Iowa dog recovering after being found with embedded collar

DES MOINES, Iowa —

A young dog named King is recovering after being found with an embedded collar in Des Moines.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa says King's collar was so deeply embedded that it left a major wound around his neck. The ARL was able to remove the collar, but they say it will take King weeks to heal.

In the meantime, the Des Moines Police Department is investigating the case.
